RRB Exam Pattern for Stage I & II CBT

The RRB Exam Pattern for Railway Recruitment 2018 includes pair of stages of CBT or simply called Computer Based Test.

The First stage of RRB CBT

  • least percentage of marks for eligibility in different sections viz. UR 40%, OBC 30%, SC 30%, and ST 25%.
  • comprises multiple-choice objective type questions in bilingual (Hindi/ English language)
  • Negative mark of 1/3 mark deduction to each erronic answer.

The sum number of applicants to be filtered for stage II shall be fifteen times the community wise total vacant of ALP & Technician job opportunities notified against the RRB according to their merit in First Stage CBT.


Stage Two of CBT – PART A

  • Lowest percentage of marks for pass in different categories are 40% for Unreserved, 30% for other backward community, 30 per cent for scheduled caste, twenty five percentage for scheduled tribe
  • It consists of multiple-choice objective type questions in two languages of english and hindi
  • one-third negative mark deduction on wrong answers

PART-B of Second Stage

  • The passing mark is 35 percentage applicable to all candidates with no relaxation.
  • It is general qualifying nature containing questions from the trade syllabus set by Director General of Employment & Training, DGET
  • Seventy questions from relevant trade to be answered in sixty minutes
  • There is also a CBT for Candidates choosing assistant loco pilot.

The applicant should score 42 marks atleast in each of the test to crack. No negative marking in Computer Based Test. The ALP merit list will be derived only from amongst the examinees passing the Aptitude Test, with 70% weightage for the marks secured in the Part A of 2nd Stage CBT & 30% weightage for the marks secured in Computer Based Test
